Gary Thwaites (Dave Watson Racing) update

Team Dave Watson with top rider Gary Thwaites at the helm had another great season in 2009, winning the CRMC Unlimited Twins Championship again for the 6th year on the trot! They also dominated the Bob Mac (Scotland's major meeting of the year) and took 1st place in the CRMC race of the year and the National at Cadwell Park. Having said all that, I do remember some old bloke on a silver Norton beating them occasionally!

Kenny Cummings update

Kenny had another great year in 2009, keeping hold of that all important number 1 plate in the AHRMA BEARS class. I was lucky enough to be at Daytona watching as he and Doug McRae (another of my customers) did battle sharing out the spoils in the F750 and BEARS races.

Richard Ford

Richard took the 2008 Irish Classic Road Race 1000cc Championship in fine style, winning 5 races  and setting lap records along the way!

Kenny Cummings update

He's done it again! After clinching the 2007 AHRMA BEARS Championship in fine style, Kenny went on to do it again in 2008, riding his new Seeley MK2 750 Norton. So it looks like the old number 1 plate is staying!

Mark Morgan update

After spending 2004 learning the very demanding Irish road circuits, Mark put all his hard-earned knowledge to good use and totally dominated the 2005 Irish Unlimited Classic races, taking 5 wins and a 2nd place from 6 starts!

Gary Thwaites (Dave Watson Racing) update

I didn't think it was possible to improve on the last couple of stunning seasons, but they did, winning what is arguably the most prestigious UK Championship of all: The Classic 1300cc National, clinching the title with 2 rounds to go!!

Kenny Cummings

Kenny not only builds some of the coolest Nortons to come out of New York, he also knows how to ride them.

In only his second season of racing, Kenny clinched first place in Vintage 4, and third place in Vintage 3 in the WERA Northeast and Mid Atlantic regional championships!

Jean Noel Gindrat and his Yellow Peril Team

Herb Becker (Canada)

Herb has been building and racing 750/850 Nortons since 1987, and started buying my parts in 1998. In 1999, with Jim Struke riding his bike, they won the AHRMA 750 Sportsman championship.
13 races entered: 10 wins and 3 second places.

Other notable wins:
- Mid Ohio 2000 1st 750 sportsman, 1st Formula vintage
- Mid Ohio 2001 1st formula 750
- Daytona 2003 1st formula 750 (short stroke engine)

Herb told me his most successful motor was a standard stroke 750 (Steve Maney crankcase half, crank, barrel, head).
32 races were entered with this engine
scoring 20 wins and 9 second places.

Mark Morgan

Mark is a relative newcomer to Classic racing, but has already proved himself by winning the 2002 Tonfanau Mid Wales Championship for 1000cc Classics.

In 2004 Mark set out to learn the Irish road circuits, and finished a creditable 4th in the Irish Public Road Championships in his first full season.

Derek Rand

Derek first came to me in 2002, and asked me to build him an engine for his Vintage sidecar outfit.
The following year he won the VMCC championship!

In 2004, Derek was also favourite to win the championship again, when his nearest rival's outfit broke in practice for the final races. In an unprecedented act of sportsmanship, Derek lent his machine to his rival, enabling them both to enter 2 of the remaining 4 races each. Derek scored 1 less point and came second overall.
